Welcome to silencia.net, a personal blog and professional portfolio website. I am Ang, a 26 yr old web designer and kickboxer from northern Minnesota. I have a full-time job, a car, a house, 3 cats, and a moderate phobia of taxidermy. I enjoy stand-up comedy, movies, books, technology, genetic anomalies, history, Dave Attell, Dexter, money, and pizza. What more do you need to know?!

Oy with the busy.
I’m still in awe of my non-stop life. I vaguely remember the days of coming home after work and doing nothing but watching TV. Seeing a few friends once every few months. Mostly just spending my time alone at home. Now I’m kickboxing most days after work. The occasional business workshop (this week: bookkeeping!). Weekly friend gatherings Mondays (wrestling night) and Saturdays (game night). Last weekend I played Rock Band for the first time. I suck, but it was fun. I have an aversion to singing in public, but I played the guitar and drums. I’m almost OK on the Easy setting. But rocking comes from the crotch, right?
I’m also working on some web projects. I think I’ve discovered that I don’t hate web design, just the lame projects I work on at work. There is nothing enjoyable about a website for a credit union or accounting firm. But a website for a stand-up comedian, or a film company, or actors? Fun! Interesting! Especially when they are for darling friends.
I am thinking about taking a trip to New York City in May (tentative!). I want to see the Comedy Cellar and Caroline’s. Check out the comedy clubs in a big city. And the geek in me must visit the American Museum of Natural History. Taxidermy phobia be damned! I’ve been wanting to make the trip for years, since I love comedy and NYC seems to be the place to see it. And now that I want to open my own comedy club, I have even more reason to go there. Bonus: meeting some of my clients and friends in the city! Oh the fun that will be had.
Must step up the intensity at the gym!
I haven’t worn contacts in years, but I’ve been trying them again recently. I think I found a kind that doesn’t bother me so much. I have very sensitive eyes. And I got new glasses. Twice actually. The first pair kind of washed out on my face from a distance. But up close they were cute! See photo. Now I’m trying another style.
My 1 year old niece discovered my nose ring and earrings today. Her fascination was adorable!

Well yay for lives! Unfortunately, I have none. It’s always refreshing to see someone doing something with their spare time that doesn’t involve a bed, a computer or Tivo. Hopefully you’re enjoying your newfound business. You’ll have to let me know when you’re going to NYC! I’ll tell Simon it’s the closest you’ve ever been to him. :D
