Love that Attell.

Attell show I attended in 2003So Wednesday night I found out that Dave Attell was performing in Minneapolis Thursday night. ME, she who loves Dave Attell. I had no idea he was coming to Minnesota until the night before! Ridiculous. Apparently I’ve been way too busy to keep tabs on when my favorite comedian and human being in the world was going to be in my vicinity.

After spending about an hour trying to decide if I was going to drop everything and attend the show, I of course purchased my ticket. I don’t know why I even bothered debating with myself, we all know I would not pass up an opportunity to see the man.

I cut out of work an hour early on Thursday, called about rescheduling my Thursday night business planning workshop. Drove the 3 hours to Minneapolis. The show was awesome. Almost entirely new material that I hadn’t heard before. And all good stuff! He is the best comic ever.

Saw him a little bit after the show. He recognized me! Every time I see him, I think this will be the time he forgets Angela. But no, he remembers me every time. And he is very sweet. He even pulled out a little trivia that was perhaps outdated, but I was surprised he remembered a little detail about my life. I had hoped by my being so busy and everything, that I wouldn’t have as strong of a crush on him as I used to have. But alas, when he was standing before me, asking me innocent little questions like “how’s it going?”, I had a case of cat’s-got-my-tongue and could hardly form those little things you might refer to as “words”. Which is frustrating as hell.

Then I had to drive the 3 hours back home, very sleepy, go right to bed, and get up for work at 8am the next morning. That part was not cool.

But he gave me hugs, and he still remembers me. And that’s all that matters! I am very glad I dropped everything to see him.
